A win for JD and more miles for the dedicated Mr Dalton

The Exeter First Chance 10k saw 16 runners from South Devon Athletic Club taking to the startline at Haven Banks, ready for the super-flat race out to Countess Wear and back.

Jamie Duffield was the first club member home in what was the opening club Grand Prix race of 2025, finishing 36th overall in 38m 15s. He was followed by Rob Foster and Ray Tedstone, with Dani Waters the first SDAC woman across the line.

The other finishers from the Paignton-based club were James Nash, Guy Henderson, Minnie Ashford-Lavery, Colin Peters, Vince Langdon, Shaun Kirk, Roger Webb, Heather Coverdale, Brian Marjoram, Alison Ford, Kassie West and Steph Bartlett.

Meanwhile, long distance specialist Matthew Dalton finished 83rd in the hilly Sir Walter Raleigh Round Half-Marathon at Budleigh Salterton.

Remarkably, the dedicated Mr Dalton also ran to the start – via Dartmouth.
