Busy weekend for juniors and seniors alike!

South Devon Athletic Club’s juniors and adults alike reaped the rewards for their commitment, energy and effort at a series of events over the weekend, writes Vince Langdon.

Friday saw the mixed 3k junior relay team come second in the junior section of the South Devon AC Relays at the velopark in Paignton. The four runners (pictured above) were Hannah Carr, Harry Stanton, Henry Gardiner and Christina Martin.

Saturday morning saw budding runners Henry Gardiner, Christina Martin and Finley Cull take part in the Haldon Forest, Torbay Velopark and Lanhydrock 5k Parkruns while on Sunday morning Benjamin and Poppy Holman ran in the junior Totnes mile race  prior to the 10k event which their dad, George, ran in.

Tavistock was the destination for eight athletes competing in the fourth Devon Open over many events and age groups.

There were personal bests for Ava Green, Theo Green, Lexie Tedstone, Max Parisi, Leonora Noonan and Melissa Bonnet, while Isla Perry won both the 100m and 200m races and Rowen Alexander-Kemp was second in high jump and fourth in long jump.

For the adults there was action on the track as well as on the trails of the Totnes 10k.

Richard Perry recorded a personal best time in the 3000m race at Tavistock, while a strong club contingent tackled the Totnes race.

Chairman Colin Peters led them home, 60th overall and second in his age category in 49m 56s. Ray Tedstone was the next SDAC runner across the line, followed closely by first lady Dani Waters. They were followed in by Antony Waters, Jeremy Goddard, Shaun Kirk, Kerry Bell (third in her age group), George Holman, Steve Wright, Cherry Powell, Neil Jordain, Mark Holman, Heather Coverdale, Tracy Elford and Roger Webb.
