13 Nov Family firefighters blaze a trail at Drogo!
A dozen intrepid South Devon AC runners tackled the off-road climbs and descents of the Drogo 10, the latest round in the club’s in-house Grand Prix series.
Ray Tedstone was the first of the club’s runners home, taking 1h 30m 27s to complete the 10-mile course through woodland trails around Castle Drogo at Drewsteignton.
Kerry Bell was next in, and first lady, followed by George Holman, Neil Jordain, Jeremy Goddard, Cherry Powell, James Nash, Mark Holman, Roger Webb, Paul Williams, Minnie Ashford-Lavery and Colin Peters.
The latter pair – father and daughter – ran in firefighters’ uniforms to raise money for the Firefighters Charity.
The Grand Prix table after the race shows Ray Tedstone leading the way in the men’s section with maximum points from his best six races. Colin Peters and Shaun Kirk are close behind him.
Dani Waters leads the women’s contest with a similar maximum score of 300 from her six best races. Kerry Bell is second and Cherry Powell third.
Six of the club’s racers turned out for the latest in the Winter 3k series over a course from Preston Sea Front to the Tanners Road at Goodrington.
Shaun Kirk was first home in 12m 30s, followed by Rob Foster, Marc Walpot, James Nash, Matt Senior and Roger Webb. Kirk leads Foster and Walpot in the overall table. Dani Waters leads the women’s section.
