07 Jan Report from First Chance 10k, Exeter
Press report for the web: Club chairman Colin Peters was the first of 15 South Devon AC runners home in the First Chance 10k at the weekend.
The race, organised by South West Road Runners, is the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season, and gives Devon’s athletes the chance to put the excesses of the festive season behind them.
The course starts and finishes at Haven Banks in Exeter, and takes in a flat course on paths beside the canal and the River Exe to and from Countess Wear.
The event marked the opening round in the South Devon AC Grand Prix series for 2024, and Peters was 124th overall in a field of 582 in a time of 42m 04s. The first of the club’s women home was Dani Waters, who was 252nd in 48m 37s.
