16 Apr Up, up and away for ‘Orrible ‘illclimbers
Jamie Duffield scampered up the twisty Oddicombe Hill Climb to clinch maximum points in the second round of South Devon Athletic Club’s internal race series.
Duffield’s time of 3m 39s for the climb from the beach to the clifftop gave him a 30-second margin over second-place Colin Peters (4m 09s) in the race the club calls the Oddicombe ‘Orrible.
Mark Carter was third in 4m 21s followed by Rob Foster in 4m 30s and first lady Dani Waters in 4m 49s. Completing the 15 finishers were Paul Williams (5m 03s), Daniel Tagg (5m 05s), Antony Waters (5m 08s), Matthew Senior (5m 13s), Guy Henderson (5m 23s), Shaun Kirk (5m 26s), James Nash (5m 47s), Cherry Powell (6m 05s), Neil Jordain (6m 15s) and Roger Webb (6m 31s).
Timekeeping and marshalling were in the safe hands of Alan and Lynda Sloman and John Drennan.
