14 Jan Report from Oh my Obelisk
South Devon AC’s Dani Waters and Kerry Bell brought home silverware from the hilly, muddy Oh My Obelisk race at Dawlish on Sunday.
The Dawlish Coasters event starts and finishes at the town’s leisure centre and offers nine-mile or half-marathon options with a climb up towards the Mamhead Obelisk and back to test the field.
The nine-mile option formed the second round of South Devon AC’s annual Grand Prix series, and Dani Waters led the club contingent home in 21st place overall, bringing home the award for the best Female Masters entrant.
The other SDAC prizewinner was Kerry Bell, who was the first Female Vet 60 runner across the line.
Full club results were: 21st Dani Waters 1h 21m 21s; 24th Antony Waters 1h 23m 49s; 32nd James Nash 1h 29m 36s; 35th Kerry Bell 1h 30m 42s; 38th George Holman 1h 32m 12; 53rd Neil Jordain 1h 37m 42s; 59th Cherry Powell 1h 40m 04s; 66th Mark Holman 1h 44m 33s; 69th Heather Coverdale 1h 45m 53s.
Paul Williams was the only club member brave enough to tackle the full half-marathon. He finished 154th in that race in a time of 2h 51m 04s.
