08 Apr Spring brings success for SDAC speedsters
The arrival of spring meant longer distances for South Devon Athletic Club’s race entrants.
Six club members travelled to Yeovil for the town’s undulating half-marathon, which formed the latest round of the annual SDAC Grand Prix series.
Shaun Kirk was the first of the speedy six across the finish line, completing the course in 1h 43m 25s. Next up was Rob Foster (1h 48m 31s) followed by Kate Foley (1h 51m 59s), James Nash (2h 10m 21s), Neil Jordain (2h 18m 32s) and Alison Ford (2h 32m 38s).
The result means Rob Foster leads Shaun Kirk by just six points after three rounds of the series. Alison Ford is the leading lady, with Kate Foley second.
Also in Yeovil, club chairman Colin Peters was the second Vet 50 runner home in a 10k race held at the same time as the half-marathon, finishing 13th overall in 43m 48s.
And the Total Coastal Half Marathon on the hilly coast path from Preston to Shaldon saw Paul Williams finish 39th overall in 2h 59m 46s.
